New York Bound

I’m New York bound this weekend for Parsons The New School for Design’s symposium on Fashion Curating Now. Jet setting to NYC for the day isn’t my scene, but I found airfare that was manageable and the lineup of speakers was just too good. Valerie Steele, Judith Clark, Alexandra Palmer in one room talking about fashion curation — SOLD! Don’t mind me as I devolve into a fashion nerd fan girl.

Any tips for a one day trip? My flight out of Chicago is at the very unglamorous time of 6 a.m.!

    Have so much fun!!

  2. If you can, see RetroSpective at FIT. It closes Saturday. It is a super exhibition with lots to think about. And Queer Fashion is there as well, though I have not seen it.

There is the Gaultier show at the Brooklyn Museum, and a textile show at the MET.

    I’m jealous!

I wish we had time to see everything. I’m going to try to get up to FIT during the symposium lunch break, but everything else will sadly not happen during this trip. But thank you for the suggestions!

Obviously early to bed is important. Also helpful is to “camel up”. Drink at least a liter of water before boarding. Tea without caffeine.

    Have a great trip!
